What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device so it can remember something between pages or visits. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels and tags — do the same job, and everything in this policy applies to them too.
We use as few as we can. The site is built so that the pages you read, the enquiry forms you fill in and the reservations you request all work without a single optional cookie being set.

The categories
Needed for the site to work — page routing, keeping a form secure while you fill it in, and remembering the cookie choice you make. These cannot be switched off, and they carry no consent requirement, because the site cannot function without them.
Remember preferences — the property you last looked at, or details you have already typed — so you do not repeat yourself.
Tell us which pages are useful and which are not, in aggregate. Not loaded until you accept, and we ask our analytics provider to anonymise IP addresses.

Why this matters
This table has to match what the published site actually sets, and be re-audited whenever a new tool is added. A cookie policy that lists cookies the site does not set — or omits ones it does — is worse than none.04
Third parties
Some features are provided by others. When you use one, that provider may set its own cookies under its own policy, which we do not control.
Following a link leaves this policy behind
Once you are on another company’s site, its cookie policy applies, not ours. We link out rather than embed wherever we reasonably can, so that nothing loads on your device until you choose to go.05
